One of the most loved features of a Victorian or Edwardian home is the chimney breast — and the alcoves either side are the perfect place for fitted shaker cabinets and bookshelves. We specialise in making the most of these spaces, with units that look as though they were always there.
Each alcove unit combines open shelving above with solid shaker cabinet doors below — ideal for books, display pieces and hidden storage. Hand painted in your chosen Mylands colour to complement your room perfectly.

The vast majority of Victorian and Edwardian terraced and semi-detached homes in London and Suffolk have chimney breasts in both the living room and dining room — creating two natural alcoves per room, often four per house. These spaces are the perfect size for fitted shaker units, and when done well, they add significant value to your home while transforming how the room feels and functions.
