How It Works
Every commission follows the same careful sequence. No rushing, no cutting corners — just a clear process that ends with something you'll keep for life.
Everything starts with a conversation. Use our quote form, send us an email, or give us a call. Tell us roughly what you have in mind — the room, the piece, whether you've spotted anything you like. At this stage, nothing needs to be decided.
We'll come back to you quickly, usually within a day or two, to talk through the project and arrange a visit.
Darren will visit your home to take precise measurements and talk through your ideas in detail. This visit is completely free and carries no obligation. We find that seeing the space in person always reveals things that photos and measurements sent over email can't capture.
We'll discuss materials, colours, internal configurations, and any particular requirements you have. For fitted furniture, we'll take detailed drawings of the space.
Following the visit, we'll put together a detailed written proposal including drawings, a full specification of materials and finishes, and a fixed price. We believe in fixed prices — what you're quoted is what you pay.
If you'd like any changes at this stage, we'll revise the proposal until everything is exactly right before you commit to anything.
Once you're happy with the proposal and a deposit has been paid, we begin making. All our furniture is built by hand in our Suffolk workshop. We work on a small number of commissions at a time, which means every piece gets the time and attention it deserves.
We'll keep you updated throughout the build and welcome visits to the workshop at any point. We're proud of what we do and happy to show it.
When the carpentry is complete, every piece is hand painted in your chosen colour. We work predominantly with Mylands of London paints, applied by hand in multiple coats and flatted between each one for a smooth, durable finish.
For pieces left in natural timber, we finish with a high-quality hardwax oil that protects the wood and enhances its natural character.
For freestanding pieces, we deliver and position everything ourselves. For fitted furniture, our installation team comes to your home to fit the piece in place — including any scribing, filling, and finishing required to make it look as though it's always been there.
We don't leave until everything is right. Before we go, we'll walk you through care and maintenance so your furniture stays in perfect condition for years to come.
